The story

Architectural science, from Auckland

In November 2020, AUT's School of Future Environments hosted the 54th International Conference of the Architectural Science Association, the region's long-standing forum for architectural science, on the theme Imaginable Futures: Design Thinking, and the Scientific Method. Amir served as Co-Chair and, with Ali Ghaffarianhoseini and Nicola Naismith, edited the proceedings.

Rigour at scale, online

Held entirely online during the pandemic, the conference drew 291 abstracts. Each abstract was blind-reviewed by two members of a 158-strong scientific committee from 15 countries across four continents, and each full paper by two or three. 188 abstracts went forward to full papers, and the final proceedings hold 140 papers.
