Professor Amir and Professor Ali GhaffarianHoseini called for a faster transition to lower-carbon buildings in New Zealand, drawing attention to consistent performance evaluation, material choices, whole-life carbon and improvements to existing buildings.
From research to practice
The commentary responded to BRANZ’s Transition to a Zero-Carbon Built Environment programme. It argued that technical tools and industry capability need to work alongside policy and regulation. The programme ran from 2022 to 2025; this story records the 2024 perspective.
