Three labs, one approach

Amir founded a studio and co-directs two university research labs. Each tests ideas in a different way: through design, through research, and through engineering.

AG++ studio

A future-led experimental platform founded by Amir to take research beyond the university.

AG++ studio (AG Plus Plus Studio) works across interiors, building designs, urban proposals, crafted objects, paintings and gallery installations. It also contributes to curriculum development, research consultancy as a subject-matter expert, and early-stage technology ideas. The "++" is the method: every project adds one more discipline than you would expect.

Responsive + Green Urban Built Environment Lab

An interdisciplinary research group on the future of buildings and cities, co-directed by Amir and Professor Ali GhaffarianHoseini since 2016.

An interdisciplinary research and consultancy group with roots in Auckland, New Zealand and Vancouver, Canada, the lab brings together architecture, engineering, computing and AI, environmental modelling and industry to study healthy buildings, urban microclimate, green and intelligent built environments, and digital twins, at building and city scale. Its doctoral researchers have gone on to academic and industry roles at AUT, Tsinghua University, Beca, WSP and Vector.

AUT Architectural Engineering Lab

A lab at Auckland University of Technology for building performance and architectural engineering, co-directed by Amir and Professor Ali GhaffarianHoseini since 2018.

The AE Lab connects architectural design with engineering analysis: building and urban performance simulation, sustainable design technologies, and digital and immersive methods for testing design decisions.
