Urban design supporting heat adaptation
Québec’s national public-health institute draws on research co-authored by Professor Amir in its urban heat-island guidance. It uses the comparative study of Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Hong Kong when explaining how urban greening, building materials and urban form affect city temperatures.
A collaboration across urban-climate research
The Cities review was co-authored by Ardalan Aflaki, Mahsan Mirnezhad, Amir, Ali Ghaffarianhoseini, Hossein Omrany, Zhi-Hua Wang and Hashem Akbari. The institute’s 2021 update, available in a 2023 English edition, brings this research into a public-health resource for heat-mitigation decisions.
