Architectural evidence reaching international development research
Two World Bank publications draw on research co-authored by Professor Amir Ghaffarianhoseini when examining urban heat and climate adaptation. Together, they connect architectural and urban-climate research with planning guidance and discussion of climate-aware economic policy.
Vegetation-based cooling in Central European cities
The 2020 report “Analysis of Heat Waves and Urban Heat Island Effects in Central European Cities and Implications for Urban Planning” cites the green-roof review co-authored by Umberto Berardi, Amir and Ali GhaffarianHoseini. Its climate-adaptation section uses the research when explaining cooling through evapotranspiration and shading, alongside locally appropriate planning of green roofs and urban vegetation.
Heat adaptation in climate-aware macroeconomic analysis
The 2021 working paper “Climate Modeling for Macroeconomic Policy: A Case Study for Pakistan,” by Andrew Burns, Charl Jooste and Gregor Schwerhoff, cites the urban-heat review co-authored by Ardalan Aflaki, Mahsan Mirnezhad, Amir, Ali, Hossein Omrany, Zhi-Hua Wang and Hashem Akbari. Its adaptation appendix discusses green roofs and façades, and identifies temperature-reduction evidence as a possible basis for further cost-benefit analysis.
