Selected examples from a wider record
The appointments below are selected examples from Professor Amir’s extensive scientific and organising committee service across many conferences and editions. They represent only part of his wider international academic contribution.
Sustained service to the research community
Professor Amir Ghaffarianhoseini has served on scientific and organising committees across international architecture and built-environment conferences. His wider record includes SimAUD, IBPC and CONVR, alongside architectural science, urban-climate, digital-construction and artificial-intelligence research events. These contributions complement his work as a conference convenor, chair and proceedings editor.
Scientific committees across interconnected fields
Amir served on the scientific committees of Nottingham Trent University’s first Gen-AI in the Built Environment conference (2025), the 9th International Building Physics Conference in Toronto (2024), and the 6th International Conference on Countermeasures to Urban Heat Islands at RMIT University in Melbourne (2023). He also co-chaired DFBI2025’s International Scientific Committee.
Organising and convening
Amir served on both the organising and scientific committees of NZBERS in 2020 and 2022 at Massey University. His conference leadership also includes ASA2020, SASBE2024 and the NZAAR series, connecting architectural design and building research with international scholarly exchange.
Urban-climate service across three editions
Amir’s scientific committee service for the International Conference on Countermeasures to Urban Heat Islands spans Singapore (2016), Melbourne (2023) and Nanjing (2026). The fourth conference took place at the National University of Singapore from 30 May to 1 June 2016; the seventh was hosted by Southeast University’s School of Architecture. These forums connect urban design, building energy, thermal comfort and heat mitigation.
Future cities and national research capacity
Amir also contributed to the scientific committee of Near East University’s International Conference on Future Cities in 2022. Alongside his NZBERS service, this work extends his contribution across international urban research and New Zealand’s built-environment community.
Architectural simulation and urban design
Amir served on the scientific committee of SimAUD2019, the tenth Symposium on Simulation for Architecture and Urban Design, hosted at Georgia Tech in Atlanta from 7 to 9 April 2019. His service connects architectural simulation, building performance and computational approaches to urban design.
